Youngstown Symphony Visits Poland
Right in the middle of an incredibly busy week, I am pleased to share that the Young People's Concert was a fantasic success. Our Dobbins students and staff braved a chilly morning walk across the street, but it was well worth it. No matter what is going on, I am proud that we prioritize events like this. We are so thankful for the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. They have been so generous to the Poland Schools for many years, and now we have completed our third Young People's Concert in the PSHS auditorium for all of our K-4 students.
From the eye-popping reaction of the Kindergarten students seeing the instruments from the first row and for the first time to students of all grades patting, clapping, stomping, and singing along, the experience was wonderful. Lasting impressions and memories!
Mr. Randall Fleischer and his wife, Heiidi Fleischer, are always dynamic, and they have such a passion for students and music education. And as for the professional orchestra, well...in Mr. Janofa's words, "How amazing do they sound?" Lastly, I want to thank Patricia Syak, the President/CEO of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. She is commited to the providing these opportunities to young people in our area, and I do not take these opportunities for granted.

Cupcakes and Canvas - Mother-Daughter Night
February 23, 2017
There was a lot of creativity throughout the halls at Dobbins, as more than 115 3rd and 4th grade girls worked on a colorful heart style painting with their moms, or special female figure in their lives. Then they enjoyed cupcakes, and dancing with DJ music provided. Special thanks to painter and instructor Matt Batcho who voluneered his time. My Son is a Mad Scientist - Father-Son Night
March 9, 2017
Our Father-Son Night at Dobbins was themed: "My Son is a Mad Scientist." We had great attendance and our PTO was tremendous in organizing the event. But I know they would agree- there would not have been much success with the Egg Drop, the creation of Slime, or the Static Electricty Relay Race without our 22 PSHS and PMS/McKinley volunteers and the generosity of Giant Eagle, Dunkin Donuts, and Larry's Drive-Thru!
