Hello, Bulldog families; This is Dr. Holland, Interim Superintendent of Poland Schools.
Providing the COVID vaccine for our employees is a priority to ensure that we are able to maintain in-person learning.
Poland Schools partnered with Giant Eagle to be our vaccination provider and all area school districts have received their first vaccination during the first week of February. The Mahoning County ESC has identified three regional vaccination sites, and Poland Staff have been assigned to the closest location, Boardman High School. Poland Staff will receive their second (2nd) vaccination the morning of Friday, February 26th. The Mahoning County ESC and Giant Eagle changed our vaccine from Moderna to Pfizer which has a 21 day wait period. Therefore, we have to change our second remote learning day from the original schedule of March 5th to Friday, February 26th. The February 26th date was just confirmed last night.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CHANGES THE MARCH 5th REMOTE DATE TO FEBRUARY 26th.
Therefore, in order to permit our employees to receive their second vaccination, we are planning a Remote-Learning schedule for Friday, February 26th, so students will be able to continue their class work with our staff remotely.
All staff are to report to their work assignments, leave for the scheduled vaccination, and then return to their building. All classes will have remote learning instruction during the day with adjustments for teacher absences during the vaccination period. All classified employees will report to their regularly scheduled work assignments.
We ask your continued patience as we take these steps in order to keep our schools consistently open for the rest of the school year.
