Congratulations to our PSHS Junior High Band & Choir on a stellar showing of creativity unleashed! We heard a lot of mixed-meter challenging repertoire from our bands and had a friend to lean on as our choir sang in unity! Thank you to Mr. Hvizdos and Mr. Penney for their direction, and way to go, Bulldogs, on your outstanding talent as an ensemble.

We have future Grammy winners in second grade at McKinley Elementary! Miss Senatore's Bulldogs are strumming the chords and singing the lyrics of their own music! Enjoy the concert!

The 2026 PSHS Art Show brought so much color and life to Poland Local School District! Congratulations to all of our student artists on an outstanding showing of their talents. Junior Ashlynn Kushner's "Wings of Macaw" earned best in show, with following awards earned by Pano Hostal, Abbie Antil, and Sophia Malizia. Thank you, Mrs. Holub, and our student artists for their creativity and dedication in making the event such a celebration of artistry!

Congratulations to our PSHS Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensembles, and Wind Ensemble on a stellar showing of creativity unleashed! Our student musicians prepared marches, Disney hits, thrilling percussion repertoire, and some Billy Joel for an awesome spring showcase of talent. What better way to finish the show with our WHOLE band and flagline together to play Fantasmic! Thank you to Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, and Mr. Hayes, for their leadership and direction. Thank you to our guests today who visited with our 3rd graders to show us a wide future of careers! The kiddos enjoyed learning about different industries and all of the possibilities!

The sixth graders at Poland Middle School enjoyed their final book club meeting of the school year with a visit from Superintendent Tommelleo! Students who chose "Tracker" by Gary Paulsen spent some time with Dr. Tommelleo to review the themes/lessons that Paulsen introduced and how they apply to the skills of hunting! Thank you to our sixth grade teaching staff for hosting the book clubs this year with our students!

The Poland Bulldogs found a podcast set up in various locations on campus... They chatted about why they love their teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week!

Tambola, Briscola, Scopa... and Bocce outside, only if Ohio's weather could be a bit more like Italy! Signora Di Tommaso took the 8th Grade Italian I class on a field trip to Italy this week, having the Bulldogs teach each other how to play famous games for fun from Italian culture. Bravi to all!

The Science Dogs, a group of five members from the PSHS Science Club, teamed up for the 2026 Ohio Area 2 Envirothon on April 29, 2026. This year's Envirothon took place at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio. Though it rained all day, the dogs hiked the trails and tackled questions on environmental topics. Thank you to Mrs. Queen & Mrs. McGee for advising The Science Dogs!

Congratulations to the Poland Seminary Junior High & Grade 9 Bulldogs that participated in the YSU English Festival! Eleven Bulldogs from grades 7-9 earned awards, with three first place award winners!

Bulldogs... Thank you so much for your donations and support during the McKinley Elementary St. Jude Math-A-Thon! In one month, we raised over $26,000 to donate to support St. Jude's mission to find cures and save children. GIVING IS OUR SUPERPOWER!

Mrs. Witkowski's third graders became Bulldog bakers! To practice units of measurements, conversions, and fractions, these chefs mastered a no-bake recipe of cookies in teams. While very messy, super fun, the Bulldogs' precise measuring made for some tasty cookies!

For the 2025-2026 athletic seasons, we tried something new. We called it The Senior Sequence. Enjoy The Senior Sequence, planned and executed completely by athletes and musicians of the Class of 2026!

Congratulations to Mario M. (Grade 1), Jack R. (Grade 2), Autumn L. (Grade 2), and Lucia B. (Grade 3) on earning recognition for their outstanding penmanship in the McKinley Handwriting Contest! We are proud of their wonderful writing style. The Zaner-Bloser National competition was paused this year, so thank you to Mrs. Wilson for hosting McKinley's own contest!

We wanted to share some announcements for this week: Please make sure students charge their Chromebook for state testing this week. All students can dress down for the week. Juniors and Seniors are dismissed for Prom 5/1 after 3rd period.

Mrs. Edgerly's third graders had the wonderful opportunity to interview a veteran very close to their teacher's heart. The Bulldogs got to meet Mrs. Edgerly's father! Congratulations to students from Mrs. DiMuzio's art classes at McKinley Elementary and Poland Middle School who were selected for the Akron's Children Hospital Art Contest! Poland is represented by 16 selections in 2026!

Just how big is our solar system? Mr. DeBolt's fifth grade classes demonstrated the vast distances between planets on a smaller scale, using tic-tacs, Nerd candies, softballs, exercise balls, and golf balls to represent the planets. They were all so small in comparison to our very large and bright sun! Mr. DeBolt told them that Nicoletta as Neptune could have been as far as 2 miles away for this to be 100% accurate, but then this would have been a field trip! It was a fun day representing the planets!

Poland Middle School fourth grader Nina from Ms. Landers class was selected as a winner of the Mahoning County Green Team Earth Day Billboard Contest! Her drawing is on display at 2271 E Western Reserve Rd (Car Wash). Congratulations, Nina! "Everyday is Earth Day. Remember to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Don't Litter!"

PSHS ART SHOW | May 6, 2026 4-7 p.m. | The talented works of our 7th-12th grade Bulldogs will be on display in the PSHS Field House at our annual art show! See the creativity unleashed! Following the art show, the PSHS Band Concert will take place in the Auditorium. It will be a night full of Bulldog artistry.

The Poland Seminary High School Athletic Department will be closing Poland Stadium all day on Friday, April 24th in preparation for the 30th Annual Poland Track and Field Invitational being held on Saturday, April 25th. The stadium will reopen on Sunday, April 26th. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

8th Grade Parents: All medication and medical forms for the Washington, D.C. Trip are due to Mrs. Lefoer by Friday, May 1. If you have not turned it in yet, please download the form, complete it, and return it to school as soon as possible. The final Washington D.C. Trip Parent Meeting will be held on Monday, May 4 at 7:00 PM in the high school auditorium.

The PSHS Bulldog Buddies met with their pups at Dobbins for a day of fun activities centered around The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Pups enjoyed making their own caterpillar hats, reading the book, adding stickers to feed their butterfly, and feeding the hungry caterpillar in a toss game.

Presenting the long-awaited, highly-anticipated episode 4 of... THE SANTINO SHOW! For the 2026 sixth grade skit, we decided to get the band back together for one more exciting episode, this time featuring some of the many talents in a short talent show. Santino, the stage is yours!

Featuring the artwork of local school districts and our very own Poland Bulldogs, the 7th annual Exceptional Art Show was outstanding! We got to see some amazing creations made in our classrooms. Enjoy Timmy's airplane, Travis's kite, Lilly and Abby's astronauts, Logan's letter, Chloe's rainbow, and so many more spectacular works of art! Thank you to Mrs. Vagas and Mrs. Pecchia for organizing a great day to be a Bulldog!

The members of our Poland Middle School Kindness Club teamed up with the PSHS Interact Club to create care package bags for our local police officers! To thank the Poland Village & Poland Township Police Department for their service to the school district, students wrote cards and worked together to fill bags full of goodies! Mrs. and Mr. Martin even got treats for the K-9 units! Thank you, local police!

PSHS Junior Arjun Tuli earned second place in the University of Kentucky Speech & Debate Tournament of Champions. Arjun advanced to the Semi Final round on Sunday and onto finals this Monday morning! 174 entries in this tournament, and Arjun FINISHES IN SECOND! LET’S GO, ARJUN!

Lawless's March Madness! This was a BLAST! With a visit from our friend Andy at Texas Roadhouse, Miss Lawless's Bulldogs faced off in a friendly basketball math review, enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Wilson who read them a final book before determining the winner of their book bracket! So much fun, all in one classroom!

There's no better time than March Madness for our third graders at McKinley Elementary to review Math & English concepts in centers! Follow the Bulldogs around as they practice fractions, rounding, word problems in the math centers. They practice punctuation, contractions, and definitions in English centers too!

The big book bracket is back... Mrs. Herdman's third grade class spent their March Madness month reading their favorite books, making their picks, and practicing their opinion writing as critics. Each student selected a book, made their bracket prediction, and voted on the winners until one book remained... Find out the winning book in Herdman's March Madness!
