Mrs. Sara Turner of Poland Local School District was awarded the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award! The Franklin B. Walter award is given to an outstanding educator or team from each of the 16 State Support Teams in Ohio who have made extraordinary contributions to the education of exceptional students. Congratulations to Mrs. Turner! We thank her for her extraordinary commitment to our students.

Congratulations to the Poland Seminary High School student athletes on their achievement this year in the NE8 Athletic Conference. In the Spring 2024 season, 22 PSHS student athletes were recognized this year by coaches and administrators. In four sports, the NE8 has named two Poland Bulldogs as NE8 Players of the Year:

The Poland High School Athletic Department has announced a Fall Sports Parent Meeting for Tuesday, June 4th at 6:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. The meeting is mandatory for parents whose son or daughter will be participating in ANY Middle School Sports next year or High School Fall Sport. All parents should plan on attending, as we will be discussing policies and procedures for the upcoming fall season. The athletes do not need to attend this meeting.

SCIENCE JAM! After school, the PSHS Science Department transformed the commons into a science and music space! Mr. Cline and our student band set the tone, Liam brought the laughs, and we danced around to different science stations! Hugh Mann proved to have some smooth moves too!

IT'S A HIT! ⚾️ Under the direction of Ms. Senatore, the first grade Bulldogs from McKinley Elementary stole some bases and our hearts at their spring concert! They were on pitch, throwing right into the STRIKE ZONE! Our smooth dance moves got us out of a PICKLE too! Overall, the night was a home run for our ALL STARS! Way to go!

When second graders from Miss Lawless' class approached Principal Mr. Beard with the idea of hosting a lemonade stand, his initial response was one of hesitation; typically, such activities are reserved for at-home fun. However, touched by the students' passionate plea to support pediatric cancer research, Mr. Beard was moved to give his approval. The students transformed their young entrepreneurial spirit into a charitable cause by hosting a lemonade stand that raised over $400 for pediatric cancer research and treatment! Read the story:

In Mrs. Walton's class, the air was sweet with the scent of desserts as eighth-grade students showcased their new culinary and creative skills in the Poland Bake Shoppe Bake-Off! Teams of student bakers launched their pop-up bakeries, complete with desserts and business plans too. The students scrambled to prepare for the judges to stop at their station. THE PSHS ART SHOW! 🎨 The amazing talents of our art classes at PSHS were on display tonight at the art show. Congratulations to Ash Kushner for 'Oakley', winning 1st place, Best in Show! Lucas Oslin's 'Bear' clawed into second place in sculpted style, and Gracie Hunter's 'The Eye' stared down the 3rd Best in show. We are very proud of our Bulldogs led by Mrs. Holub and their works!

This weekend, Youngstown State University will have its first College Credit Plus student graduating college before she even graduates high school. At just 17 years old, Bianca Patrone will graduate from Youngstown State on Sunday with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration before she receives her high school diploma from Poland Seminary High School.

Students from Mrs. Queen's AP Biology classes at PSHS took the classroom outside to Poland Municipal Forest! They were joined by Dr. Ian Renne from Youngstown State University to review the ecology and biodiversity of Poland, Ohio. From examining leaves to spotting woodpeckers, each encounter with nature sparked thoughtful discussions about the species native to Northeast Ohio.

2024 OHSAA Spring Tournament Ticket Information

View information on how to purchase tickets for the 2024 OHSAA Spring Sectional/District Tournament Events. Tickets can be purchased online at ohsaa.org/tickets. Online and Gate Prices are the same. Cash will only be accepted at high school venues. All non-high school venues will be online ticket sales online. Boys Tennis Sites will be online only.

Our McKinley little dogs have been bonding with our PSHS Bulldogs! High School big dogs will visit McKinley during their study halls to help out the students in their projects, crafts, and assignments! Paige and Kennedy did the bunny hop in Music, Austin pitched a perfect game of kickball, and Sophia received all the hugs when she entered the classroom. The pups are making memories for life!

2024 PSHS Contest Winners at YSU English Festival

Congratulations to the PSHS Bulldogs that participated in the YSU English Festival! Senior Alexis Antal finished second place in "Not So Trivial Pursuit", Junior Elliana Volpini scored first place in "I Love Limericks", and Senior Katelyn Hupp earned an honorable mention in the Impromptu writing contest! Way to write, Bulldogs!
