Welcome back to another season of Bulldog Biographies! Mrs. Demetrios’ 4th Graders have selected an amazing group of trailblazers for their biography projects. The Bulldogs creatively present the many accomplishments and stories of very important people with visual aids to help! This time, we’ll be checking off the people we learn about in Bulldog Biographies!

The Poland Schools Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2025 Distinguished Honorees! Your dedication to the Poland Local Schools and community is so appreciated. The foundation is looking forward to honoring these three very deserving individuals at the Annual Recognition Banquet on Tuesday, March 18th.

The PSHS Academic Challenge/Quiz Bowl teams are off to a strong start, buzzing in quickly and scoring big with their trivia prowess. With three wins already secured, they’ll continue to face local schools weekly as they prepare for the Mahoning League Tournament. LET’S GO, DOGS!

PSHS will resume the midterm schedule upon returning to school. The start of Semester 2 will be pushed back to the following day. An update will be sent regarding when report cards will be available on Progressbook.

The PSHS Interact Club recognizes one staff member each month who goes above and beyond in making a positive impact on Poland students. The January 2025 staff member of the month is Mr. DiNunzio, H.S. Social Studies. Thank you, Mr. DiNunzio, for everything you do for the students, staff, and community each and every day!

With the forecast of extreme cold temperatures on Monday, January 20, the community cheer clinic has been postponed. The cheer clinic is rescheduled on Monday, January 27, in the PE Gym at PSHS from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Please enter through the doors located by the auditorium entrance (facing the football stadium). The girls will be invited to perform at the half on Tuesday, January 28. 

The gift of warmth... 4th Grade Kindness Club teamed up in groups this week to create tie knot blankets for friends in our community that need some warmth! Way to go, Bulldogs!

Poland Local School District has calculated and posted Student Fees for the 2024-2025 School Year and PSHS Student Fees for the first semester. Parents/guardians of students with outstanding fee balances will receive emails with instructions to view their invoice and pay online or by cash/check.

Poland Speech and Debate hosted their home tournament at PSHS just before winter break! Our team impressed judges with compelling speeches and persuasive debates, all set against a festive backdrop of holiday themes and winter snow. Congratulations to Coach Humphreys and the team on organizing and delivering a successful event! Best of luck with the rest of the season, dogs!

Congratulations to 5th grader Tanner Clark for winning The Mahoning County Green Team’s Recycled Ornament Contest with his amazing Coca-Cola truck ornament, crafted from recycled materials! His creative design now hangs on a tree at the Mahoning County Courthouse, and he’s earned a Zero Waste Pizza Party for his class.

Ms. Lawless’s second graders have been busy learning about holiday traditions from around the globe! This week, their journey took them to France, Italy, and Mexico, where they explored how families celebrate the season in different cultures. Saint Nick may have stopped by...

The world's best second-grade poets from McKinley Elementary were invited to Kelliher's Cafe and Lawless's Lounge to present their animal poems. They enjoyed cocoa and treats as their friends read poems about snakes, cats, and even Bulldogs!

Poland Seminary High School celebrates the achievements of two outstanding athletes recognized by WKBN for their incredible performances this season. Junior Vito Komara has been selected for the prestigious WKBN Big 22 Class of 2024. Senior Oliver McCully earned recognition as part of the WKBN 5 Blocks of Granite 2024.

In the last episode, Big Dog Bracelets set their pricing and marketed their products…  Over 100 orders came in, meaning the dogs must move on to production. Bang, Boom, Bash! The Bulldogs engrave “Poland” or “Bulldogs” into the bracelets, followed by a quality assurance checkup by The Santino Show!

POLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL - WINTER CONCERT | The Bulldogs in Band & Choir filled the auditorium with beautiful holiday music! With challenging renditions of holiday classics, partner songs, and some first notes on the big stage, the Bulldogs showed our bright future in music education! Congratulations to Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, and our talented Bulldogs!

How sweet is this? Fifth grade students studied the art of radial symmetry with Mrs. Dimuzio by designing eye-catching candy displays. They may not have been symmetrical with a healthy diet, but they got them done in a sugar rush!

PSHS Swim & Dive have done it again. With last year's hype video surpassing 20,000 views on social media, they took it to the next level this year. Enjoy them bringing the heat this season!

As a reward for modeling "The Poland Way" with excellent behavior and respect, Poland Middle School sixth graders enjoyed a morning at Youngstown Skate!

Poland Seminary Junior High Student Council surprised our friends at the Blackburn Home in Poland by bringing the holiday spirit! They delivered holiday treat bags and letters they wrote, sang holiday carols, and talked about their favorite holiday traditions.

Our Second Graders were stylish magic reindeers tonight at their holiday concert! They walked, strutted, swayed, and sashayed on the runway before liftoff... They designed their dreams with their unique handmade antlers... and they sang in the holiday season with a grand finale, "Ready For Christmas!" These talented reindeer presented such an amazing performance! Congratulations to Ms. Senatore and the Bulldogs!

MICHAEL DALEY - WKBN/WYTV STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | Whether it’s juggling three sports (soccer, basketball and baseball) or academics, Michael handles it all with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the classroom. Congratulations, Michael!

Welcome to Big Dog Bracelets, where business is booming. Mrs. Martin’s and Mrs. Creed’s Bulldogs have teamed up to start their own bracelet business. Thanks to a mini-grant funded by The Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence, the students became busy builders of Poland-Branded bands. Let’s get busy at our first business meeting!

The PSHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble filled the auditorium with beautiful holiday music. The performance showcased our students’ versatility, transitioning from marching season to concert band, with many even switching instruments. Members of local honors and youth bands were also recognized. Congratulations to Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, and our talented musicians!

The Poland Middle School Kindness Club is asking for donations of new winter accessories for students in a Youngstown City Elementary School! We are asking for: Scarves, Hats, Gloves, Earmuffs, or any other small, warm winter accessories. Students can turn in items to the Poland Middle School Office until Friday, December 13. Thank you!

For one of their final projects, this group of sixth graders painted beautiful canvases of vibrant landscapes, detailed designs, and even some winter characters we all know so well!

The Poland Local Schools will hold a District Records Commission Meeting on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The purpose will be to review the district’s record retention schedule and approve a list of records for disposal. The meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. in the Office of the Treasurer located at 3030 Dobbins Road, Poland, OH 44514.
