The PSHS Varsity Quizbowl team has started the season undefeated, securing four victories! At the matchup against Columbiana on January 14, Senior Douglas Stoudt Jr. led the team to victory with a correct answer on the final toss-up. The game was tied, and Douglas knew his early literature! The Varsity team along with Junior Varsity members practice weekly with matches on Wednesday leading up to the league tournament on February 28 at Columbiana High School. LET'S GO, DOGS!

Poland Seminary High School has earned a BRONZE on the AP® School Honor Roll for the 2024-2025 school year! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students and maximizing college readiness. Poland Girls Wrestler Ella Thomas captured her 100th career victory at the Austintown Fitch Girls Wrestling Tournament in early January. The junior currently has a record of 28-3 in the 100 lbs. weight class. | PSHS Junior Ella Thomas and Coach Beadle in a great feature by WKBN. LET'S GO, ELLA!

Our youth cheerleaders who attended the cheer clinic earlier this week took the court at halftime today and performed a spectacular routine! Congratulations to all of the Bulldog cheerleaders!

The culinary artists of Poland Seminary High School participate in a friendly cake bake-off in Ms. Walsh's classroom! Basing their designs around the selected Holiday theme, the teams planned, delegated, and baked appetizing and artful treats in less than two hours! Ready your appetite for the smiles, laughter, and fun in the great cake bake-off!

The Poland Schools Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2026 Distinguished Honorees! Congratulations to Kristi Martin (Teacher of the Year), Lori Mowad (Staff Member of the Year), and Amy Miletta (Alumnus of the Year). Your dedication to the Poland Local Schools and community is so appreciated. Poland Speech & Debate have outdone themselves once again! On Saturday, the team hosted the Poland Tournament in the theme of Polar Express, taking trips around the district from prelims into finals! We are so proud of our Bulldogs, Coach Spencer, and all of the great helpers who contributed to a successful tournament day! Rashmeet takes us around to interview guests and our team.

First Grade Bulldogs at McKinley enjoyed rockin’ around the first grade hallway and jingle bell rockin’ into other classrooms! For a fun holiday surprise, the students were treated to activities hosted by the first grade teachers. The kiddos enjoyed making snow globes with Mrs. Wagner, painted trees with lights with Mrs. Muntean, Candy Canes with Mrs. Aikens, tree ornaments with Mrs. Bonarigo, faux stained-glass designs with Mrs. Fitch, all while Mrs. Hudak had the Bulldogs chasing down Rudolph and the reindeers with reindeer food!

Parent–Teacher Conferences will take place across Poland Local School District on Thursday, February 12, 2026. To accommodate the large volume of scheduled conferences, Poland McKinley Elementary (Grades K–3) will observe an At-Home Learning Day on this date. McKinley students will complete instruction at home with materials provided by teachers. Middle School and High School students will attend school as usual, with conferences scheduled after the school day. Learn more about scheduling conferences:

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - 02/12/2026 | Poland Local School District Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-2027 school year will look a little different this year. Registration will take place on Parent-Teacher Conference Day (February 12, 2026) at McKinley Elementary School in the Connector. Parents or guardians of children who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2026, are invited to attend. Only one parent or guardian per family needs to attend. Children are not required to be present for registration.

I didn't want to post this... But thanks to PSHS Junior Renzo Tukalo and his superpower to connect and inspire others, I finally gave in. He and his "army" of friends suggested they wanted to watch this one more time... and I would never say no to a student's idea. Every year, the PSHS Student Council hosts a Thanksgiving Assembly, inviting the Student Council Presidents from each grade to present a speech on Thanksgiving and gratitude. The students also select a staff member to deliver a presentation to the student body. This year, the students selected me, Mr. Nico, their school social media person.

Welcome to a special "Kindness Rocks" edition of The Bulldog Way Podcast. On November 13, we celebrated World Kindness Day, and we invited families to share stories of the kindness they see from their children outside of school. The response was overwhelming and so awesome. Our Bulldog families reminded us that kindness begins at home... And WOW! Our Bulldogs are spreading kindness everywhere you go. Kindness rocks!

The first notes on the big stage were a spectacle of holiday cheer! Creativity was unleashed as our fifth and sixth grade students took the stage for their holiday concerts! The choirs opened up with jingling bells and classic carols. Then, the fifth grade band took us through the first steps of becoming a Bulldog musician! Congratulations, Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, Mr. Hayes, and our outstanding student musicians!

HAPPY 67 DAY! It was the 67th day of school at Poland Local School District, and our second graders in Mrs. Jeswald's and Mrs. Ungaro's classes celebrated in awesome activities! They went on a 67 scavenger hunt, built creations of 67 blocks, did 6-7 exercises, and so many math equations adding up to 6, 7, or 67. If the meme isn't stale by tomorrow, we truly have no idea what else to do!

The PSHS Junior High Fashion class surprised our friends at The Inn at Poland Way to bring holiday cheer! They sang carols and handed out their handmade gifts: sewn drink coasters!

We got into the holiday spirit at the Junior High Band & Choir Concert! Exploring international genres, traditional carols, and holiday tributes, the Junior High Choir and 7th and 8th grade bands displayed great talent and unity in a strong sound. Congratulations to Mr. Hvizdos and Mr. Penney on an outstanding show!

After a virtual visit with author Peter Brown, one Poland McKinley Elementary student wasted no time putting inspiration into action. Second grade student Ben S. became an author, completing "The Adventures of Me and My Cat," a six-page story filled with colorful illustrations and a humorous tale featuring his cat.

Second grade Bulldogs at McKinley enjoyed virtually hanging out with Peter Brown, author of The Wild Robot! The students got to hear about the writing process, illustrations, and adaptation to the movie. Each classroom received a set of books to enjoy as well. This was all made possible thanks to our friends in Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence and their mini-grant program! Thank you for such an awesome experience!

On Friday, November 21, 2025, students from Poland Seminary High School traveled to the Mahoning County Courthouse for participation in a mock trial.  The students are enrolled in the Introduction to Criminal Justice course, and are receiving college credit through Youngstown State University. Students said it was a great learning experience and an enjoyable trip.

The PSHS Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble were stellar in their fall concert! Creativity was unleashed as our vocalists and musicians prepared lively repertoires and holiday tunes! Congratulations to Mr. Hvizdos and Mr. Penney on an outstanding show!

The PSHS Guidance Department will be hosting an informational College Credit Plus meeting on Wednesday, December 17 at 6 p.m. Guidance Counselors will explain how your child can earn college and high school credit concurrently.

Mrs. Fening's second grade Bulldogs will bring you to happy tears... Over two days, the students expressed gratitude for the things they have and thought of others who are in need. First, they created "Birthday Bins" for mothers and babies in the NICU so that they can have the essentials for a birthday cake and first days of motherhood! Then, they spent a day at stations, thinking of what they are grateful for.

"THERE'S GOOD NEWS TONIGHT": McKinley Elementary third graders Jane Dudash and Francesca Hurdley, hosts of the McKinley Elementary Thanksgiving Day Parade, go NATIONAL! They were the front cover of the NBC Nightly News broadcast on November 26, 2025, opening a story on school parades. AHHH!!!
