The Poland Middle School Sixth Grade class took their final steps out of the building as middle school students today. Welcome to seventh grade, Bulldogs!

Celebrating the accomplishments in learning throughout the school year, the kiddos worked in teams to earn camp supplies, build fires, make smores, and scavenge in Poland Municipal Forest. Congratulations to the PSHS Class of 2026! They will be celebrated at the commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the PSHS Field House. The Class of 2026 Valedictorians are Rowan Downie, Gurpreet Singh, Sean Zura, and Douglas Stoudt Jr.

Mrs. Fening's second graders took a trip back to the nineties today! Oh, the total confusion when they saw a cassette tape and boombox... As Everly and Gia's awesome shirts said, "I have no idea what this is!"

Thank you to our Middle School PTO for bringing in Komara Outdoors for our fourth grade classes and teachers to meet some scaly new friends! Mr. Henry and Ms. Mordocco weren't even scared a bit! What an awesome presentation for the Bulldogs.

Mrs. Martin took the Bulldogs outside today for data collection, plotting, and graphing. But with what data? The fifth graders timed their 100 meter dashes in two trials to determine if they improved or maybe caught their breath the second trial. Our timers and runners really set a strong pace.

Congratulations to Sophia R. on leading our third grade students to victory in our class spelling bee! Sebastian C. took second and Levi M. took third place with pride. Thank you, Mrs. Wilson, for organizing the event. Thank you to our third graders for cheering on their classmates!

Mrs. Edgerly's third grade class at McKinley Elementary had a special virtual visitor! Mr. Mateja, Army Veteran and Mrs. Edgerly's father, called in to answer questions about his service. Some third grade book club students worked together to come up with questions for the interview.

We are sharing the adjusted block schedule for the final two days of school (6/1+2) for students in grades 7–11. These schedule changes are designed to allow for extended learning and testing times. View the schedule:

CAREER DAY! The 5th Grade Bulldogs presented careers to their friends in 4th grade! Each year, the fifth grade class will choose a career they are interested in and present information from a box project on what schooling is required, average pay, and duties. We heard from engineers, doctors, software developers, and yep, even a photographer!

In the heart of Washington, D.C., the Bulldogs enjoy a class trip exploring the nation's capital! Along the National Mall, they visit landmarks and museums that tell our rich history.

Five Poland Seminary High School students have been selected to participate in the 2026 STEM summer research project internships at Youngstown State University! Incoming seniors Eli Hagler, Nate Hupp, Jasmeet Kaur, Benjamin Miller, and Navtej Singh will be contributing to research in various STEM fields, all while earning college credit in high school!

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th grade bands and choirs on their outstanding progress this school year. They showed their talent in the spring concert. We loved the call and response from our choirs, a really cool percussion duet from Ben and Harrison, and then the bands took us home with exciting marches and rock and roll! Thank you, Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, Mr. Hayes, and Mr. Niro, for your dedication to music education in our schools.

The Poland High School Athletic Department will hold its Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Monday, June 8 at 6:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. This meeting is mandatory for parents of any student who will be participating in Middle School or High School Fall Sport during the upcoming school year. Important information regarding athletic policies, procedures, and expectations for the fall season will be shared. Please note: Student athletes do not need to attend this meeting. Your attendance is greatly appreciated as we prepare for a successful and well-organized start to the fall sports season. Thank you for your continued support of Poland Athletics!

The best batch of cookies is the Bulldog Batch! The dogs made their point: They wanted cookies, and they wanted them NOW! Directed by Ms. Senatore, McKinley Elementary's first graders performed an outstanding showing of "Cookies! The Musical." 

Uh, this doesn't look like McKinley Elementary! The Bulldogs went back in time to learn in the 1800s this week! Our friends at the Poland Ohio Historical Society invited us into the Little Red Schoolhouse to practice our arithmetic on chalkboards and learn about being a Poland student in the 19th century. The Bulldogs just could not believe there were no snow days back in the day...

Using only household items, 7th Grade STEM students in Mr. Daley's class had to build a car! With a goal to travel 50 centimeters, the Bulldogs collaborated with partners to use the elastic potential energy of a rubber band to move their cool cars. Vivi and Audrey's car took the furthest trip, and we think it was because of the aesthetics... The car had a hairdo!

LOVE IT. The PSHS Boys Tennis team has officially closed out an undefeated 13-0 regular season. They are 2026 NE8 Champions again, making this the 7th consecutive season as conference champions! Senior Andrew Aey is moving on to Districts next week after a strong Sectional performance. Andrew was also just named the 2026 NE8 Player of the Year, marking his fourth consecutive year receiving the honor. All four years of high school, player of the year. Congratulations to our Boys Tennis team and Head Coach Jimmy Leslie on their accomplishments. LET'S GO, DOGS!

The Poland High School Interact Club has an obligation to the school and the community to help make a positive difference. Members of the club already know there are many people who are already doing this and contributing to making Poland Schools such a great place for students and community members. As part of one of the club's initiatives, it’s been decided to recognize one staff member each month who goes above and beyond in making a positive impact on Poland students.The May staff members of the month are Mrs. Way & Mrs. Albrecht, PSHS Secretaries. Thank you, Mrs. Way and Mrs. Albrecht, for everything you do for the students, staff, and community each and every day! Poland wouldn’t be what it is without dedicated people like you!

Congratulations to the PSHS student athletes on their achievement this year in the NE8 Athletic Conference. In the Spring 2026 season, 24 Bulldogs were recognized by coaches and administrators. In five sports, the NE8 has named one Poland Bulldog as NE8 Player of the Year: Andrew Aey, Senior, Boys Tennis

The McKinley Elementary 3rd Grade Bulldogs of 2025-2026 have left their mark... With the help of their teachers, the Bulldogs painted their pawprints onto the wall to be remembered forever.

Congratulations to PSHS on being a 2026 Constellation Awardee for the Genes in Space contest, where we had the most students in the midwest region submit their biotechnology experiment ideas for space. Constellation Award schools will receive a DNA Discovery System, enabling them to continue bringing the excitement of ISS-inspired space biology to their classroom.

On behalf of the Poland Middle School Kindness Club, sixth grade student Sophia Jones made a difference in so many lives. She imagined a fundraiser to support the Akron Children's Hospital through their Change Maker program by asking middle school students to donate toys and funds. She recruited friends from Kindness Club to create posters and flyers, leading to an outpouring of support that amounted to an $850 donation and multiple bags full of toys for the hospital! Thank you, Sophia, for being an outstanding model of what it means to take care of our community. Thank you, Mrs. Butch & Mr. Purins, for supporting this fundraiser. Thank you to all who donated!

Meet the Potato Pets! Mrs. Kelliher’s second graders are some of the most creative writers at McKinley Elementary. Last time, it was poetry about their favorite animals. This time, they’ve drafted a short biography of their new pets. But these aren’t your ordinary pets…

Happy Mother's Day, from Mrs. Jeswald's second grade class! They have been practicing their cursive writing and wanted to surprise mom with a little letter!

PSHS Interact Club made the best surprise prom dates for our friends at Leonard Kirtz! The Bulldogs snuck in early enough to decorate their hallways and the dance floor. Then, they finally surprised their prom dates by helping with makeup before walking promenade together into the dance hall! To our friends at MCBDD, thank you for inviting us to such a fun day! Thank you to Mr. Martin and Mr. Sainato for leading the field trip. And of course, our Poland Bulldogs... Thank you for sharing your love and energy in serving others.

The Bulldogs would like to thank our transportation department for their amazing work this year in transporting us to school and many field trips, events, and games/meets. Our team travels over 200,000 miles per year, ensuring our Bulldogs can achieve in and out of the classroom. We love and appreciate their commitment in our mission to educate, empower, and inspire every student at every opportunity, especially when they take that first step onto the bus every morning! A few drivers were on the road during our appreciation breakfast, so they may not be in the photograph! We're sending them love too, a few miles away! 

Congratulations to our PSHS Junior High Band & Choir on a stellar showing of creativity unleashed! We heard a lot of mixed-meter challenging repertoire from our bands and had a friend to lean on as our choir sang in unity! Thank you to Mr. Hvizdos and Mr. Penney for their direction, and way to go, Bulldogs, on your outstanding talent as an ensemble.

We have future Grammy winners in second grade at McKinley Elementary! Miss Senatore's Bulldogs are strumming the chords and singing the lyrics of their own music! Enjoy the concert!

The 2026 PSHS Art Show brought so much color and life to Poland Local School District! Congratulations to all of our student artists on an outstanding showing of their talents. Junior Ashlynn Kushner's "Wings of Macaw" earned best in show, with following awards earned by Pano Hostal, Abbie Antil, and Sophia Malizia. Thank you, Mrs. Holub, and our student artists for their creativity and dedication in making the event such a celebration of artistry!

Congratulations to our PSHS Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensembles, and Wind Ensemble on a stellar showing of creativity unleashed! Our student musicians prepared marches, Disney hits, thrilling percussion repertoire, and some Billy Joel for an awesome spring showcase of talent. What better way to finish the show with our WHOLE band and flagline together to play Fantasmic! Thank you to Mr. Hvizdos, Mr. Penney, and Mr. Hayes, for their leadership and direction. Way to go, Bulldogs, on your outstanding talent as an ensemble!
