It is with great pride that Poland Local School District releases the 2024-2025 edition of THE BULLDOG BULLETIN! This 16-page publication is packed with exciting stories and photos, showcasing an excellent year for the Bulldogs in academics, arts, athletics, and activities.

Poland Seminary High School Cheerleaders kicked off summer with a powerful showing at CheerTime Athletics Spirit Camp in Niles! Over three days, they learned new material, built team unity, and brought home two Elite Awards, individual honors, and nine All American titles. Congratulations, Bulldogs! Pack the towels and grab your magic bands... First Grade is going to Disney World and the beach! Our Bulldogs enjoyed a little trip to the most magical place in the world. At Disney, they enjoyed riding rides, watching parades, and learning about the parks. The beach bulldogs laid out their towels and learned to hula dance with their leis on. It was the best field trip, all from the comfort of our own classrooms.

Over 500 students took the walk today through the Poland Municipal Forest and in Poland Village, delivering on their promise to walk for our future. Poland Local School District would like to thank the PSHS students, police and fire departments, and volunteers for their efforts in managing the event.

SPELLING BEE! Mrs. Wilson hosted the annual 3rd grade Spelling Bee, testing representatives from each class on every word they learned this year. Congratulations to Elena for winning the spelling bee after 20+ rounds of perfect spelling. Lily came in 2nd place, and Ethan in 3rd! Way to go, third grade!

Miss Lawless invited a very special beekeeper in to discuss the hive with the busiest bees in McKinley! Her father surprised the Bulldogs with a special visit, showing them the gear he uses to take care of his hive and harvesting honey. They even got to taste the honey after enjoying a little story about beloved bees.

Creativity was unleashed at the 5th and 6th Grade Choir & Band Concerts! Our Bulldogs from Poland Middle School shined and howled with pride on popular tunes. We heard some amazing talent in our vocal soloists! After a year of amazing progress (and pencil sharpening!), the Bulldogs advanced to full songs on the big stage. The future of our music program is bright because of the amazing work of our choirs, bands, and directors!

CAREER DAY! The 5th Grade Bulldogs presented careers to their friends in 4th grade in an always-inspiring get-together! Each year, the fifth grade class will choose a career they are interested in and present information from a box project on what schooling is required, average pay, and duties. The future is so bright for these superstars.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Career Day for 3rd grade students at McKinley Elementary was a great success. We were so interested in hearing presentations from a doctors, cosmetologists, jewelers, financial advisors, and more awesome visitors! Some of us had their hair curled, performed operation, and tested gemstones to test out the career! Thank you for inspiring us!

6th Grader Mari D. started each day presenting the weather forecast on the morning announcements for Poland Middle School. A natural communicator with a sense for predicting the weather, Mari was very excited today when Mr. Purins invited Meteorologist Eric Wilhelm to talk about his career in Meteorology and studying Atmospheric Science in college. The forecast is sunny and bright for our Bulldog, Mari!

Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Creed’s classes are back together again representing Big Dog Bracelets! After a very successful fundraiser selling Poland-themed bracelets, the Bulldogs are living up to their promise to beautify the school grounds! The famous 100 meter dash! To practice recording, graphing, and analyzing data, Mrs. Martin's fifth graders recorded their times running 100 meters. Taking two turns each, they were able to plot on the graph how they either improved or got too tired for the second run. We got so tired just watching their energy that the kids took over the camera too!

Poland Local School District has received the Auditor of State Award for its excellent performance in the state audit. This marks at least the fifth time since 2016 that the district has received this recognition, a testament to an ongoing commitment to excellence. Congratulations to our Junior High bands and choirs on a stellar display of creativity unleashed at their Spring Concert. The junior high choir performed songs of Spanish heritage and finished with an American "one-hit wonder!" Our 7th grade band played a diverse grouping of genres, marching and breezing through a nice ballad. Finally, our 8th grade band took us out of this world with a tribute to the moon landing and other show tunes. Enjoy the photos here:

PROM SEND-OFF! Our Bulldogs are headed to Prom, and thanks to our friends at PSHS and partners, we were able to throw a little "send-off" event to get photos while all dressed up! Thank you to Mrs. Hurdley's Communications class for treating the Bulldogs to a fun evening, and special thank you to our friends Mrs. DeMain for the balloon display, Mrs. Melone, Giant Eagle Poland, and The Flower Loft in Poland!

The Poland High School Athletic Department will hold its Fall Sports Parent Meeting on Monday, June 2nd at 6:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. This meeting is mandatory for parents of any student who will be participating in Middle School or High School Fall Sport during the upcoming school year. Important information regarding athletic policies, procedures, and expectations for the fall season will be shared. Please note: Student athletes do not need to attend this meeting. Your attendance is greatly appreciated as we prepare for a successful and well-organized start to the fall sports season.

Students from the high school collaborated with fifth and sixth graders on writing cards and creating care/snack packages to present to our local firefighters Poland Fire District - WRJFD! The students packed bags full of treats and kind messages, even making a delivery to our hometown heroes! Thank you to Mrs. Martin, Mr. Martin, and Mrs. Butch for organizing such a heartfelt surprise for our community!
