Kindergarten Staggered Start Information
- District
- McKinley
Dear Kindergarten Parent(s),
In an effort to make the transition to school as positive as possible for our students, our Kindergarten classrooms will be implementing a two-day staggered start during the week of August 23-26, 2022. The staggered start will provide the opportunity for your child to be in a smaller group. This will allow teachers to ensure that each individual child will become familiar with classroom routines, lunch and recess, hallway routines, and arrival and dismissal procedures.
As noted in the schedule below, students that have a last name beginning with letters A - L will report on Tuesday, August 23rd. Those students will then remain at home on Wednesday, August 24th. Students that have a last name beginning with letters M - Z will report for their first day of school on Wednesday, August 24th. All Kindergarten students will report to school on Thursday, August 25th.
As you know, on Monday, August 22nd, all of our Kindergarten families will be joining us for Orientation from 1:30 - 3:00 pm. During Orientation, we will review the procedures and expectations for the school day. Students will also visit their classroom, meet their teacher, and have an opportunity to ride the bus. An outline of the first week of school is below.
Monday, August 22: Kindergarten Orientation for ALL incoming students 1:30 - 3:00. |
Tuesday, August 23: ONLY Kindergarten students that have a last name beginning with letters A - L will report for their first day of school. |
Wednesday, August 24: ONLY Kindergarten students that have a last name beginning with letters M - Z will report for their first day of school. Tuesday’s A - L group will remain at home. |
Thursday, August 25: ALL Kindergarten Students will report to school. |
Friday, August 26: ALL Kindergarten Students will report to school. |
I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
Respectfully,
Principal Matt Beard
