McKinley & Middle School Parents,

Halloween plans are well underway and we have some exciting news to share with you! We are bringing costumes back to our classrooms this year! However, we need YOUR help to make this day a success and a tradition we can maintain.

Students may dress in costume for classroom parties on Friday, October 28th, however, it is not mandatory. Thanks to our generous PTO, all students in grades K-6 will also be treated to a food services approved snack. PTO will also reach out to our parents/guardians who are members of the Parent Teacher Organization to help out in classrooms that day. We appreciate your cooperation with this! Students will not dress in costumes on Monday, October 31st but we would like them to wear halloween/fall colors!

Here’s where we really need YOUR help! When choosing a costume for your child to wear to school PLEASE think about the following things; can my child navigate the stairs safely? Is it a trip hazard? Can my child use the restroom without assistance? Can my child see without any obstructions? (No Halloween masks permitted) Can my child sit comfortably all day in it and do what’s expected of them? Also --ALL costumes must be school appropriate. (Weapons, or anything gory or revealing will NOT be permitted.) Finally, will it fit easily into a shopping bag should my student need to take it off? It is very important to adhere to these guidelines.

We are excited to continue this tradition safely. If you have any questions please feel free to call the school or reach out to any member of the PTO Board.

Happy Halloween!
