Poland Local School District Food Drive: November 4 - November 15
We are excited to announce our annual districtwide food drive, sponsored by Poland Middle School's PANDA Club and the Student Councils from both Poland Junior and Senior High Schools. This year, we are expanding our efforts to include McKinley Elementary and the Middle School, hoping to collect more food than ever before for our local food pantry!
All food donations will stay within the community to assist families in need. The food drive will run from November 4 through November 15. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference, and together, we can have a lasting impact on those in need.
Every year, our students come together to collect an incredible amount of food that helps sustain our local pantry for several months. Thank you for your continued support and generosity in making this food drive a success. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for families in our community.
Suggested Items
The food pantry is requesting nutritious canned and dry goods. Here are some suggested items:
- Canned vegetables (green beans, corn, peas)
- Canned fruit (peaches, pears, mixed fruit)
- Canned soup (chicken noodle, vegetable, tomato)
- Peanut butter
- Jelly (non-refrigerated)
- Pasta (spaghetti, penne, macaroni)
- Spaghetti sauce (canned or jarred)
- Rice (white, brown, or instant)
- Macaroni and cheese
- Cereal (Cheerios, oatmeal, granola)
- Condiments (Ketchup, Mustard, Mayonnaise, BBQ Sauce)
- Canned beans (black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas)
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Boxed meals (Hamburger Helper, Rice-A-Roni, stuffing mix)
- Crackers (saltines, graham crackers)
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti with meatballs)
- Canned chili or stew
- Cooking oil (vegetable oil, olive oil)
- Flour and sugar (small bags)
- Tea bags or ground coffee
- Non-refrigerated milk (evaporated or powdered)
- Granola bars or protein bars
- Trail mix or dried fruit

From the 2024 residency in Mrs. Fening's Kindergarten class, to 2026 open-heart surgery in her Second Grade class, our Bulldogs are back at McKinley Elementary General Hospital! They operated on some broken hearts, sewing with phonics and adding with mathematics to save lives! Enjoy some 2-year anniversaries and other photos from inside the operating room!

It was an awesome week of reading again at McKinley Elementary! Our teachers and staff took the Bulldogs on a reading journey as they heard stories from special guests, dressed up as different Seuss characters, and even started writing their own books!

Happy National 3rd Grader Day?! (3/3) We just learned today was a special day for McKinley's creative third grade class! So today, we made... 3RD GRADE: THE MOVIE! Bulldogs were given a challenge to produce a short movie in 15 minutes, and yes... there was a little twist: include a random prop! Watch these content-creating geniuses at work!

WKBN: Students in Poland are getting a new “teacher” of sorts. Meet Louie the therapy dog. He’s a 7-year-old Golden Doodle who has held that title since he was one! Monday, he visited McKinley Elementary along with his handler from the Paw’s Therapy Team.
