POLAND, Ohio – Poland Local School District Board of Education has named Andrew J. Tommelleo as Interim Superintendent of Poland Local School District effective January 1, 2026.

Tommelleo brings over 30 years of experience in public education, previously serving as Superintendent of Liberty Local School District and Interim Superintendent of Leetonia Exempted Village Schools. Earlier in his career, he held multiple roles across Pennsylvania schools as a teacher, guidance counselor, principal, and vocational director, and later served as a Career Tech Consultant for the Ohio Department of Education.

Tommelleo will focus on maintaining daily operations, supporting building administrators, and ensuring continued progress in curriculum, student services, and district priorities.

“As Interim Superintendent, my primary goals are to ensure stability, strengthen communication and trust, support principals and teachers, maintain responsible fiscal management, and prepare the district for a successful transition to its next long-term leader. I will focus on operational reliability, student well-being, instructional quality, and open, timely communication. My work will center on listening, responding to immediate needs, and leaving the district even stronger and more cohesive,” said Tommelleo.

The Board of Education will begin the search for a permanent superintendent, with the appointment expected prior to the start of the 2026–2027 school year.
