POLAND, Ohio – The Poland Local School District Board of Education is proud and excited to announce the appointment of Assistant Principal Michael Daley as the District’s next Superintendent, beginning with the 2027–2028 school year.
This milestone reflects both a celebration of Mr. Daley's exceptional career at Poland and the District’s commitment to strong, steady leadership rooted in community. Over the course of the upcoming school year, Mr. Daley will spend time alongside Interim Superintendent Dr. Tommelleo while fulfilling his current role at the high school to further develop his leadership at the District level and ensure a seamless and thoughtful transition.
Mr. Daley has dedicated more than two decades to serving the students, families, and staff of Poland Schools. Since 2002, he has made a lasting impact as a teacher, Principal of Dobbins, and High School Assistant Principal, earning a reputation as a passionate and collaborative educator and a respected leader among his peers. He will be the first internal hire as Superintendent since 1968 when Milan Pavlov entered the role.
Just as meaningful as his professional experience are Mr. Daley's deep personal ties to the community. His family’s connection to the District spans generations - his wife, Megan, a member of the Class of 1998, and their three children continue that proud tradition. His son, Michael, a District graduate, is currently attending the United States Naval Academy studying mechanical engineering, while their two daughters, McKenna and Madelyn are both students at the Seminary.
“Tonight marks an exciting moment for our District,” said Troy Polis. “We are thrilled to appoint a leader who not only brings outstanding experience and vision, but who truly understands and loves this community. Mr. Daley's dedication, character, and deep roots here make him uniquely suited to lead our District forward.”
The Board of Education is confident that under Mr. Daley’s leadership, the District will continue to thrive and build on its strong tradition of excellence.

Congratulations to our PSHS Junior High Band & Choir on a stellar showing of creativity unleashed! We heard a lot of mixed-meter challenging repertoire from our bands and had a friend to lean on as our choir sang in unity! The sixth graders at Poland Middle School enjoyed their final book club meeting of the school year with a visit from Superintendent Tommelleo! Students who chose "Tracker" by Gary Paulsen spent some time with Dr. Tommelleo to review the themes/lessons that Paulsen introduced and how they apply to the skills of hunting! Thank you to our sixth grade teaching staff for hosting the book clubs this year with our students!
