Poland McKinley Elementary & Poland Middle School received the Overall 5-Star Building Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce for their performance on the Traditional Report Card.

Want to view the solar eclipse safely? In under five minutes, Mr. Daley's 4th Grade STEM class will take you through the steps to create your own eclipse viewer using a few household items!

We are getting excited for the Solar Eclipse! Inspired by the great Alma Thomas and her famous creation "The Eclipse", the K-6 Bulldogs are coloring the coronas of their own solar eclipses! Follow along with our 3rd graders as the colors fill the paper!

March 17-23, 2024 is Severe Weather and Flood Safety Awareness Week. Poland Local Schools will be participating in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 9:50 a.m.

Congratulations to Addison Shilling, Poland Middle School 5th Grade student, on memorizing 137 DIGITS of Pi on Pi Day 2024 in the annual 5th Grade Pi Day Competition!

Some first and second grade Bulldogs were invited by Mrs. Shaffer's sixth grade tour guides to a fun and informative day in Egypt! They took their new friends to stations where they could write their name in hieroglyphs, decorate a crown and sarcophagus, and build their own pyramid! Best field trip ever for our young pharaohs!

4th Grade Kindness Club met today to discuss ways to be kind this spring! A blooming start to this kindness was writing cards to wish our local neighbors who need some love a happy spring ahead!

When 5th grade Poland Middle School student Maddie Ohr heard that it was time to bring in decorated Valentine's Day boxes, she was reminded of the fun she had creating her personalized Valentine's Day boxes in the past. Her wish was to help other students feel that joy. Read the story:

Ms. Landers' 4th grade class (and Santino) are moving on to the next steps of writing: the supporting details! Learn from these authors as they share their advice for writing descriptively! Our final episode will be released on Valentine's Day, displaying their final presentations!

5th & 6th grade Kindness Club wanted to share their love with the community too! They put their hearts into making more tie-blankets for those in need in our community. This group was able to make over 20 blankets in less than an hour!

SOIL SLEUTHS! Mr. Felger from the Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District visited Mrs. Tekac's 6th grade classes today. The students became "soil sleuths" in an exciting and engaging experiment! They tested the permeability of water through soil, gravel, and sand by pouring water onto the materials and measuring the amount of water that filtered through and how long it took. Their discoveries led to informative discussion about the water and soil makeup in Mahoning County!
